Kids’ Peanut and other food allergies
The 07Feb11 issue of “The New Yorker” has a great article on peanut and other food allergies, and why they are so prevelant today. Basically, all the inexposure of the foods that are known to cause allergies may be the problem. Also, our germ-o-fobia may be to blame.
So, the moms who clean obsessively, never expose their infants to peanuts and milk; either by passing through breast milk, or minute amounts in solid foods, are probably more likely to have kids with food allergies.
Bottom line: moms should eat a well balanced diet, don’t avoid any foods, and put away the anti-bacterial sprays!
