Apple to recall 1.8 million notebook batteries
The batteries are made by Sony, a company which I have been boycotting since around the beginning of the year, when they thought it was a good idea to install a rootkit on Windows machines, when one of their “enhanced” audio CD’s was inserted into the PC.
Apple had had this same recall (in-voluntary) about a year and a half ago. I had mine replaced back then, so I have been all set. I guess the people who did not have their replaced, are having some major issues with them now. I also find it kind of interesting that Sony who makes these batteries for both Apple and Dell, do not seem to have any issues with the batteries they make for their own laptops. Nobody has seemed to make that connection yet, and Sony sure has not said anything.
Apple to recall 1.8 million notebook batteries:
Apple Computer Inc. will recall 1.8 million lithium-ion notebook batteries after nine devices overheated, causing minor burns in two users, U.S. safety regulators said Thursday. The recall is the second-biggest in U.S. history involving electronics or computers, after No. 1 PC maker Dell Inc. recalled 4.1 million lithium-ion batteries last week.
